The latest firmware update for our Y-cam SD range has now been released and is available for download in the Downloads section of our global website.

This latest firmware, version 4.08, utilises the SD’s redesigned chipset, and allows us to bring full Mac compatibility to the entire SD range (utilising Quicktime for display of video with sound, and Flash for motion detection setup).

The power of using 3rd party plugins such as Quicktime and Flash allows the Y-cam to be less dependent on Microsoft’s ActiveX plugin, which has previously been required to enable and modify motion detection settings. The camera will now auto-detect which version of the camera software to use dependent on your system setup.

Updates in the SD settings also allow the introduction of an FTP video sending function, aswell as fixes to other minor software bugs.

These latest updates really brings the Y-cam to the front of the wireless network camera market – fully compatible with PC and Mac systems, excellent motion detection, built-in DVR (via SD card slot), wireless connectivity, and much more… The Y-cam SD is a truly all-in-one surveillance solution.

The firmware is a recommended update for all Y-cam SD users.

Taipei, Taiwan-August 6, 2009 – Synology^® Inc. today announced its alliance with IP camera manufacturer Y-cam Solutions, which broadens Synology’s surveillance support by integrating Y-cam Solutions’ existing products in Synology’s Surveillance Station software and achieving the mutual agreement on early testing and verification of future products.

Current support covers Y-cam three models, Y-cam Black, Y-cam White, and Y-cam Knight, and will be reflected in Synology’s next firmware update, Disk Station Manager 2.2. Videos in MJPEG and MPEG4 formats, motion detection, audio streaming, and wireless interface will be fully supported by Surveillance Station 2 in the official release in September. The Y-cam is a monitoring video camera that can send high quality video and sound through any standard computer network (wired or wireless) via the internet.  It connects directly to the internet through your network, so there is no need for additional hardware or a computer to be constantly on.  It makes the monitoring of property, valuables or loved ones easily available and affordable.
