Who are Y-cam?
In 2004, one of the founders of Y-cam was abroad on vacation with his family when his home burglar alarm was triggered. He was notified instantly and contacted the local authorities but had to wait for them to arrive and check his home.
Waiting for news from the local police was agonising. If only he could see what was happening...
The alarm turned out to be false but the system kept triggering throughout his vacation. Due to the number of false alarms however, the Police were no longer able to respond.
This event encouraged him to investigate the possibility of finding a camera solution to allow him to see for himself what was happening when away from home. He found many products in the market but none were easy enough for beginners to use.
In early 2005, he teamed up with a small group of like-minded engineers and designers to develop an IP camera which his family and friends could use that would provide peace of mind while being very easy to set up and use. This camera has now developed into the Y-cam range.
Since its launch the original team have been bringing their concepts to the general public. Their core aim is still to provide affordable, innovative and user-friendly security surveillance solutions.
